As an environmental consulting company that
conducts work to enhance the health and sustainability
of the United States’ water resources, PG is committed
to adopting everyday business practices that are in line
with its overall environmental values. PG is
promoting the implementation of sustainable business
practices and environmental values at an early growth
phase to ensure that these values are implemented and
able to grow along with the company.
Initiative Implementation
Following are several practices that PG implements to minimize harmful
effects on the environment due to daily business operations, encourage resource conservation, and
cultivate environmental consciousness within the company. PG anticipates that the PG Green
Initiative will evolve over time; therefore, it is essentially a ‘living’ program that will be revisited and
revised as needed.
1. Recycling Practices
- Promote recycling of plastic, aluminum, paper, print cartridges, and other office waste.
- Ensure that all employees understand what materials can and cannot be recycled.
- Provide employees with receptacles specifically designated for collecting and recycling batteries and plastic bags.
2. Printing Practices
- Encourage PG employees to print documents on both sides of paper when possible.
- Promote reuse of waste paper that has only been printed on one side. This
paper can be used for internal notes or printed documents. Provide a designated
storage location for this paper, accessible to all employees.
3. Energy Conservation
- Encourage PG employees to turn off lights, computers, and power-consuming devices when not in use.
Consider use of power strips for appliances and other equipment that are clustered in one area to
turn off when the last person leaves the office.
4. Sustainable Office Products
- Procure green/recycled/eco-friendly products (e.g., printer paper). When
practicable, purchase office items in bulk to minimize excess packaging waste.
- Encourage the use of rechargeable batteries in cameras, GPS, and other field equipment.
- Consider as a first option, acquiring used furniture or furniture
manufactured from recycled fibers prior purchasing brand new items.
5. Reduce Individual Fuel Consumption
- Encourage employees to walk, carpool, or use other modes of
transportation to get to and home from work. Provide the flexibility
to accommodate other modes of transportation.
6. Reduce Fuel Consumption on Business Travel
- Encourage employees to carpool or use other modes of transportation
to get to the airport for business trips when practicable.
- Consider rental of hybrid vehicles when practicable.
Communication and Awareness
PG aims to clearly communicate its values, goals and expectations to its employees. By clearly
communicating the values, goals and expectations of PG’s sustainable business practices, PG and its
employees will become more aware of its impact on the environment and the PG Green Initiative
will become increasingly effective.
While PG is interested in increasing the quality, type, and amount of work it provides for customers,
PG is also committed to reducing its resource consumption and environmental footprint in our
journey towards sustainability. PG encourages its employees to continually share ideas of ways to
contribute to the PG Green Initiative.
